Western China 12 Day Adventure May 2017

Beth, Will & Jo, Shelby & I  arrived in Chengdu, Sichuan Province in western China from Shanghai on Day 1 (April 30, 2017) of our 12 day trek. Rented a car then onto Ya’an for the night to visit the Pandas on Day 2 before heading further west to Ya Jiang for the night. Day 3 onto Mandala Hostel in Dao Cheng. Day 4 drove to Shangri-La town to catch bus enroute over Jianziwan Mountain Pass (Altitude 15,285 ft) to our Qunzhen’s Tibetan Inn in Yading, China. Spent that afternoon in Ya Ding Dao Cheng National Park, Sichuan Province, China hiking up to 13,385 feet elevation at base of Xiannairi Snow Peak (19,790 Feet). Day 5  hiked 5 hours up 15,600 feet elevation overlooking Milk Lake in Ya Ding Dao Cheng National Park. It snowed coming back down! We drove back to Dao Cheng to spend two nights at the Mandala Hostel again to complete Day 6. Day 7 onto the actual town of Shangri-La before heading on Day 8 to Lijiang via Tiger Leaping Gorge into Yunnan Province. Day 9 & 10 at Luga Lake biking ~40 miles at 9,000 feet! Day 11 stopover in Xi Chang enroute to Chengdu to fly back to Shanghai. Carpe diem!!!

Kenya, Africa March 2017

Spent 6 days with our missionary friends at Lake Navaisha, Kenya! Just driving around we saw zebras, giraffes, camels, etc! We toured one of 127 flower farms in Kenya, which is the third largest exporter of cut flowers in the world! Also spent a day at Kijabe health  care Hospital, where our whole Miller family served in 2001.
