Christmas 2007 Yearly Update
Greetings from the Miller family! We’ve
been back in
Fayetteville
for twenty years and we’ve been blessed that my practice continues to
prosper. I’m still doing a few surgery cases up at
Blowing
Rock
Hospital
and am spending more time in medical missions! My practice is on the web
listed above. Our family time continues to be a priority. Our family trips
included: multiple trips to Traveler’s Rest in Blowing Rock,
Bahamas
,
Costa Rica
with Will &
Victoria
and
Italy
with
Shelby
. Our family web site, www.markmillerfamily.com
has all the pictures of our travels.
Mark
went over to
China
during Spring Break with the high school senior class of Fayetteville Christian
in April on a mission trip riding bicycles among the villages. It inspired us to
register and we came in 28th place of
all foreign families in the world in the official BEIJING 2008 Olympic
Games "Olympic Families Tour Beijing" campaign. I’m
still on the Board of Trustees of now
Methodist
University
, the Advisory Board of Directors of Youth for Christ, the local Board of First
Citizen’s Bank, and am completing a 3 year service as Lay Leader of our
Methodist church. I hit my 51st birthday last February!
I was named one of "
America
's Top Plastic Surgeons" for 2007 by the Consumers'
Research Council of America, an independent
Washington, D.C.-based research organization.
Beth & I celebrated our 24th
wedding anniversary on April 23rd! We try to spend time
together and generally eat lunch daily. She has been gracious and tolerant to
help out in my office now that I’m solo with a PA. Beth spends most of her
time with the children both at home and at school (still in three
different schools, although one is in
Chapel Hill
!). She is the glue that keeps this family together. Beth
took our kids to the
Bahamas
during Spring Break. She also helps with the senior high Sunday School
and completed her term on the Board of the
Fayetteville
Family
Life
Center
. She somehow finds time to horseback ride. We attended her 30th
Charlotte Latin High School Reunion catching up with her classmates this Fall.
We visited her brother’s family along with her parents in
Cincinnati
over Thanksgiving.
Will
(21) is a junior at UNC-Chapel Hill and continues to thrive. He enjoys being a
Tar Heel and excels in academics and Frisbee. He is involved with InterVarsity
and has increased his responsibilities with them immensely. He had a fun summer
working as the youth intern for our church including the mission trip to
Costa Rica
. He was accepted into the UNC Entrepreneurship Program, considered #1 in the
country! His plans next summer include either Ethiopia or China!!!
Victoria
(now 17¾ and
in 12th grade) is enjoying her last year at
Fayetteville
Academy
. She was elected student government president of the school. Her artistic
talents continue to grow with drawing, singing and acting in church youth,
school and beyond. Her favorite sport is soccer. College possibilities include
UNC-Chapel Hill, Georgetown U,
College
of
Charleston
and Vanderbilt. She is a semi-finalist for the Morehead Scholarship with the
finals next spring. She enjoyed the Costa Rica Mission trip so much that she
went back after Christmas for a week.
Shelby
is now 14 and started her last year at 71st
Classical
Middle School
. Beth & I took her
and a friend on a grand August trip to
Italy
including
Venice
,
Tuscany
,
Sorrento
, and
Rome
. She
enjoys forensics, guitar, dance, art, tennis and spending time with her friends.
Shelby
has become involved in the church youth programs including choir, dance and
drama teams.
Tweetsie,
our 20-year-old cat, still rules the roost over Lily, our golden retriever, and
our 2 barn cats, Halley and Comet. We still have our horse, Sassy, who will be
bred next spring. We may also try to sprinkle in some medical mission trips
along the New Year. May you all have a blessed 2008 and please let our
paths cross again soon!
